Construction has officially commenced on "Base Alpha," a massive, CSU-controlled research and data-hub located deep within the Alxa League of the Gobi Desert. The facility, which spans over 200 square kilometres, is slated to become the primary command node for the Caspian Sea Union’s (CSU) "Splinternet" and their burgeoning orbital-defence network. From a realpolitik perspective, the Gobi expansion is a logical consolidation of CSU power away from vulnerable coastal hubs.

Base Alpha is designed to be entirely self-sufficient, utilising advanced CSU-designed solar-salt reactors and deep-crust water extraction. More importantly, its location provides a unique "signal-shadow" against APU AetherNet surveillance. By burying the primary quantum-processors deep within the Gobi’s granite bedrock, the CSU is creating a "Black Box" of digital sovereignty that is effectively immune to both orbital strikes and cyber-infiltrations.

"This is a strategic retreat into strength," noted an independent military analyst based in Singapore. "The CSU is moving their brain into a fortress. While the APU is focused on 'global integration' via a vulnerable satellite mesh, the CSU is betting on terrestrial isolation. Base Alpha is not just a hub; it’s a bunker for the Splinternet."

The APU has expressed "deep concern" regarding the lack of transparency surrounding the Gobi project, citing potential violations of the 2025 Orbital-Debris Treaty. However, without a physical presence in the Alxa League, the Atlantic powers have little recourse. Base Alpha represents the physical manifestation of the CSU’s ideological shift: a world divided by "sovereign deserts" and digital walls.
